How are language points worked out?
The CRS gives points for each ability, based on your NCLC or CLB level. Your first official language earns far more than your second, whose points are capped at 24 when single and 22 with a spouse.
Should French be my first official language?
In your Express Entry profile, you say which official language is your first. Level for level, first-language points are higher than second-language points, so try both options above to compare.
Is the French bonus added on top of language points?
Yes. The 25 or 50 bonus points are additional points, on top of language points. They need NCLC 7 or higher in every French skill.
